The United States has begun redeploying dozens of aerial refuelling aircraft to the Middle East, according to Israeli media reports, raising concerns over the possibility of renewed military confrontation with Iran as tensions between Washington and Tehran persist.
The aircraft are reportedly returning to the region after being withdrawn during the recent period of ceasefire with Iran, in a move that comes amid continued speculation over whether the United States and Israel could resume military operations against Tehran.
Israeli news outlet Srugim reported that the redeployment is taking place against the backdrop of continuing tensions with Iran and growing discussion of a possible renewed military confrontation.
Israel Remains on High Alert Despite Trump’s Reservations
Israeli Channel 13 previously reported that Israel remains in a state of military alert, despite US President Donald Trump’s reservations about resuming hostilities with Iran.
According to the channel, assessments within Israel suggest that Washington may ultimately seek to restart military confrontation with Tehran, sooner or later.
The Israeli military is also reportedly preparing for several scenarios involving potential Iranian retaliation, including the possibility of an attack on the eve of Israeli elections.
Meanwhile, the Israeli newspaper Maariv reported that Washington has been pressuring Israel to launch an attack against Iran independently, before the US midterm elections.
The reported pressure presents a complicated picture of the discussions surrounding a possible new confrontation, particularly given Trump’s stated reservations about returning to war.
Trump and Netanyahu Held ‘Urgent Talks’ Over Resuming War
According to Channel 13, citing a senior Israeli security official, Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have held “urgent talks” in recent weeks concerning the possibility of resuming the war against Iran.
The discussions reportedly centred on whether military operations against Tehran could be renewed amid continuing regional tensions.
Despite these consultations and the reported movement of US military aircraft, Israeli security officials stressed that no final decision had been reached regarding another military confrontation.
One security official was quoted as saying that “Netanyahu appeared unwilling to carry out an operation before the elections”.
The remarks suggest that electoral considerations are also influencing Israeli discussions over the timing of any potential military action.
The reported redeployment of US aerial refuelling aircraft comes as Israeli officials continue assessing the possibility of renewed hostilities, the potential for Iranian retaliation and the political considerations surrounding any decision to launch another attack.
For now, Israeli security officials maintain that no final decision has been made, even as military preparations and high-level discussions continue.
