Hezbollah announced on Friday that it had carried out a series of attacks targeting Israeli military positions in southern Lebanon, describing the operations as a response to Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement and recent strikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs and villages across southern Lebanon.
In a sequence of statements, the group said its fighters targeted an Israeli “Merkava” tank at the newly established “Namar al Jaml” position at 10:15am on Friday using a suicide drone, claiming a direct hit on the target.
The group added that a second operation was launched at 11:20am against a gathering of Israeli occupation soldiers in the Labouneh area using another suicide drone. Hezbollah stated that confirmed casualties were recorded among the targeted forces.
In a third statement, Hezbollah said it targeted a newly established Israeli military command centre in the town of Bayyada in southern Lebanon at 12:40pm using a suicide drone, claiming the strike hit its target with precision.
The group later announced a fourth attack targeting an Israeli military Humvee vehicle in Bayyada at 2:10pm. According to the statement, the vehicle was seen burning following the strike.
Escalation Along the Southern Lebanese Front
The attacks mark another escalation along the Lebanese border following repeated exchanges of fire and accusations of ceasefire violations between Israeli forces and Hezbollah. The latest operations were framed by Hezbollah as retaliation for ongoing Israeli military activity in Lebanon, particularly strikes targeting civilian areas in Beirut’s southern suburbs and villages in the south.
