The Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas, released a video mourning the martyr Robin Yousef al-Nono, who served as a group commander in the al-Radwan Battalion under the Gaza Brigade.
Al-Nono was martyred during fierce battles with Israeli army forces that had advanced into the Gaza Strip on 31 October 2024.
The footage shows details of his role in confronting Israeli forces that entered the Sheikh Radwan neighbourhood, north-west of Gaza City. It also includes scenes from military training he underwent at resistance sites before the outbreak of the war.
Targeting Fortified Forces
One of the key scenes in the recording documents a field conversation between al-Nono and his companion, the martyred field commander Abdul Karim al-Naffar, during the confrontations.
Al-Nono told his companion that Israeli soldiers were crowded inside one of the schools in the area. When al-Naffar asked him about the location of the tank, al-Nono replied that it was positioned on the edge, then instructed him to fire a locally made Yasin 105 shell at the soldiers.
The footage then shows al-Naffar leaving his position and firing the shell, with the camera documenting the moment the building where Israeli occupation soldiers were fortified was struck.
A Moving Will to His Mother
The visual release also included a will left by the martyr al-Nono for his mother. In it, he expressed his devotion to her and asked for her forgiveness, stressing that Allah’s acceptance of him was tied to her acceptance.
In his will, he said his wish would not be fulfilled unless that matter was resolved, and that it would not be complete without his mother’s patience and her counting him as a martyr and fighter in the path of Allah, rising in revenge for the blood of the martyrs.
Al-Nono asked his mother not to cry over him, but to ululate instead, regarding his martyrdom as a wedding celebration.
