The Director of the Missile Defence Agency at the Pentagon, General Heath Collins, has confirmed that the United States will require several years to rebuild its depleted munitions stockpiles following its military operations against Iran.
Speaking during a hearing before the United States House of Representatives on Wednesday, Collins stated that while weapons are being produced daily to replenish supplies, the recovery process will be prolonged. He emphasised that rebuilding these stockpiles is not an immediate task, noting that it will take years before inventories return to previous levels.
Collins further clarified that the Pentagon is currently unable to provide a precise timeline for full replenishment, reflecting the scale of consumption during the conflict and the limitations of current production capacity.
Previous American reports revealed the intensity of the military campaign, indicating that US forces launched approximately 850 Tomahawk missile strikes against targets in Iran within the first month alone. In addition, more than 2,000 missiles were deployed in the early weeks to intercept incoming Iranian missiles and drones, highlighting the significant strain placed on US defence resources.
