Hezbollah announced that it successfully ambushed a unit from the Israeli occupation army’s Paratroopers Brigade at dawn yesterday, as the force attempted to advance towards the western neighbourhoods of Bint Jbeil, where intense clashes continue between resistance fighters and occupation forces.
According to Hezbollah, its fighters had prepared the ambush in advance. As a unit from Battalion 101 of the Paratroopers Brigade advanced from the border town of Maroun al-Ras towards the southwestern outskirts of Bint Jbeil, it entered a designated kill zone. At that moment, an explosive device was detonated, followed by close-range combat using light and medium weapons.
The resistance confirmed that the Israeli force sustained multiple casualties, including both killed and wounded. Israeli troops reportedly evacuated the injured under heavy fire and smoke cover, retreating towards Maroun al-Ras and then further into occupied Palestinian territory using military helicopters.
Hezbollah further stated that it targeted the evacuation zone with artillery shells and rockets, intensifying pressure on the withdrawing forces.
For its part, the Israeli occupation army acknowledged that one of its battalions operating in southern Lebanon had been caught in an ambush. Among the casualties was the deputy battalion commander, who sustained critical injuries and was replaced by another officer. The wounded were transported by helicopter to hospitals in northern occupied Palestine.
