Gaza Marks Mawlid al-Nabi Amid War, Displacement and Destruction

Fresh footage from last night in Deir al-Balah shows Palestinians in Gaza marking Mawlid al-Nabi despite the ongoing Israeli assault, once again proving that faith in Allah and love for His Messenger ﷺ remain alive in the hearts of the oppressed.

As much of the Muslim world commemorates the blessed birth of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in peace and safety, the people of Gaza are doing so under bombardment, displacement, hunger and grief. Yet even in these brutal conditions, they continue to gather, remember Allah, send salawat upon His Messenger ﷺ and hold firmly to their Islamic identity.

These scenes are more than a religious celebration. They are a testimony to the spiritual strength of the Palestinian people and a reminder that war may destroy homes, roads and infrastructure, but it cannot extinguish iman from believing hearts.

Mawlid in Gaza Is an Act of Faith and Defiance

The footage circulating from Deir al-Balah captures a powerful reality: despite everything Israel has inflicted upon Gaza, Palestinians still honour the Prophet ﷺ and preserve the sacred occasions of Islam.

This is what real steadfastness looks like.

For the people of Gaza, Mawlid is not a luxury. It is not a cultural formality. It is an act of devotion, remembrance and resistance. In the middle of destruction, they still gather to express love for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, to teach their children about him, and to renew their connection to the faith that has carried them through siege, war and immense loss.

At a time when the enemy seeks not only to kill Palestinians but to erase their spirit, every Islamic gathering becomes a declaration that Gaza will not surrender its identity.

A Nation Rooted in Islam Cannot Be Broken

Observers and social media users have pointed to the clear contrast between the resilience of the Palestinian people and the visible despair within Israeli society despite all its military power.

That contrast is not accidental.

A people rooted in faith, sacrifice and attachment to Allah possess a source of strength that no army can manufacture. The people of Gaza continue to endure suffering that would break most nations, yet they still gather for prayer, fast in Ramadan, celebrate Eid and remember the birth of the Prophet ﷺ.

This is what distinguishes an authentic nation from a settler-colonial project built on force and dispossession.

The Palestinian people remain tied to their land, their deen and their honour. Their remembrance of Mawlid under siege is part of that living resistance.

Love for the Prophet ﷺ Lives in Every Corner of the Ummah

The scenes in Gaza also reflect a wider reality across the Muslim world. In Palestine, Yemen, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and other lands wounded by war and aggression, Muslims continue to commemorate Mawlid as an expression of love for the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

Across the wider Ummah, from Egypt and Morocco to Turkey, Pakistan, Sudan and Indonesia, Muslims mark this blessed occasion through gatherings of dhikr, recitation, salawat, praise poetry and lessons from the Seerah.

Even in the hardest conditions, the Ummah does not forget its Prophet ﷺ.

That is because Mawlid is not simply about festivity. For believers, it is about renewing love for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, reflecting on his mercy, following his example and strengthening the bond between the Ummah and its beloved Prophet.

Gaza’s Mawlid Is a Message to the World

The fresh footage from Deir al-Balah is a message not only to Palestinians, but to Muslims everywhere.

It says that the people of Gaza are still standing.

It says that Islamic life in Palestine is still alive.

It says that despite massacres, siege, illness, polluted water, destroyed neighbourhoods and endless suffering, the people of Gaza still find light in the remembrance of Allah and His Messenger ﷺ.

This is why such scenes frustrate the enemies of Palestine. They reveal that the Palestinian people cannot be reduced to victims alone. They are a believing people, a dignified people, and a people who refuse to be spiritually defeated.

The Meaning of Mawlid Under Siege

When Palestinians celebrate Mawlid under occupation and bombardment, the meaning of the occasion becomes even deeper.

Their salawat are not empty words. Their gatherings are not routine rituals. Their remembrance is born from pain, sincerity and reliance upon Allah.

In a place where so much has been taken away, their love for the Prophet ﷺ remains untouched.

That is why these scenes should move the hearts of Muslims everywhere. They remind us that the Ummah’s connection to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is not broken by war, poverty or oppression. Rather, in the darkest places, that love often shines the brightest.

A Living Sign of Palestinian Resilience

The people of Gaza continue to show the world that faith is stronger than fear.

Fresh footage from Deir al-Balah last night has once again captured this truth in real time. Palestinians gathered to mark Mawlid al-Nabi not because life is easy, but because their hearts remain attached to Allah and His Messenger ﷺ.

Their celebration is a form of sabr. It is a form of honour. It is a form of resistance.

And above all, it is a reminder that the Ummah of Muhammad ﷺ is still alive in Gaza.

The bombs have not silenced them.

The siege has not erased them.

And the love of the Prophet ﷺ still rises from Gaza, even through rubble and smoke.
