Iran’s Foreign Ministry has stated that Tehran was on the verge of responding to a ceasefire violation overnight before Pakistan intervened to prevent further escalation. The remarks, attributed to Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister and reported by Fars News Agency, were also confirmed by Reuters.
The official stressed that any regional peace arrangement must include Lebanon, warning that the coming hours are highly critical. He called on the United States to halt Israeli attacks on Lebanese territory in order to uphold the ceasefire.
Escalating Warnings from Iranian Leadership
A day earlier, Esmail Qaani, commander of the Quds Force within Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, warned that those responsible for what he described as Israeli aggression in Lebanon would face severe consequences. He stated that those behind the attacks should expect punishment that would leave them regretful, adding that Israel’s record is marked by crimes against civilians, including women and children.
Tehran Links Lebanon Strikes to Ceasefire Violations
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian also condemned Israeli strikes on Lebanon, describing them as a direct breach of the ceasefire agreement with the United States. He warned that continued attacks would render any planned negotiations between Tehran and Washington meaningless.
Pezeshkian characterised the repeated strikes on Lebanon as a clear violation of the temporary truce, calling them deceptive and a dangerous signal of unwillingness to honour future agreements. He emphasised that Iran remains prepared for escalation, stating that its forces remain on alert and that Lebanon will not be left to face the situation alone.
