The office of Israeli War Minister Yisrael Katz announced that Katz has instructed the occupation army to prepare a comprehensive plan to defeat the Hamas resistance movement in the Gaza Strip should the war resume, according to Reuters.
Katz’s directive came as US President Donald Trump stated that the ceasefire in Gaza depends entirely on Hamas’s full compliance, warning that the Israeli occupation forces could resume their assault “with just a word” from him if the movement fails to meet the agreement’s terms.
Trump’s Remarks: A Conditional Ceasefire
In a brief phone interview with CNN, Trump was asked what would happen if Hamas refused to disarm. He replied:
“Israel will return to those streets with just a word from me. If Israel can go into Gaza and eliminate them, they will do it.”
He further emphasised his personal authority in the matter:
“I will consider allowing Netanyahu to resume military operations if Hamas refuses to comply with the ceasefire.”
At the same time, Trump acknowledged what he called a “positive role” currently played by Hamas in maintaining order inside Gaza.
He praised the movement’s internal control, saying:
“Hamas is now intervening and eliminating violent gangs,”
— referring to Hamas’s enforcement of the security aspect of the agreement aimed at stabilising the situation in the Strip.
Trump described the first phase of the agreement as “critically important,” particularly the release of prisoners from Gaza, which he called a “vital humanitarian achievement.”
These statements came just two days after the Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit, attended by about 20 world leaders, during which a comprehensive document was signed to end the ongoing war on Gaza.
Palestinian Resistance: “Trump’s Claims Are False”
A senior source in the Palestinian resistance rejected Trump’s claim that the second phase of the ceasefire agreement between “Israel” and Hamas had already begun, describing it as “completely false.”
“Negotiations for the second phase have not started yet, and no date has been set,”
the source told Arabi21, adding that Qatari and Egyptian mediators had not yet contacted the resistance factions regarding new talks.
He confirmed that due to Israeli violations of the first phase, much of the effort now focuses on forcing Israel to honour its commitments and closing gaps in the implementation of the existing agreement.
The First Phase of Trump’s Ceasefire Plan
On October 10, the first phase of the ceasefire and prisoner-exchange deal took effect under Trump’s proposal.
In this phase, “Israel” released 250 Palestinian prisoners serving life sentences and 1,718 others detained from Gaza since October 8, 2023.
Nevertheless, more than 10,000 Palestinian prisoners — including women and children — remain in Israeli prisons, enduring torture, starvation, and medical neglect.
Many have died under interrogation or due to lack of treatment, according to Palestinian and Israeli human-rights reports.
Escalation Looms Behind the Political Rhetoric
Katz’s call for a new war plan, coupled with Trump’s conditional tone, exposes the fragility of the current ceasefire and the continued Western complicity in the occupation’s aggression.
While the world speaks of peace, the Israeli regime prepares for renewed violence, and Washington’s green light remains the decisive factor in Gaza’s fate — a reminder that for Palestinians, justice and resistance remain inseparable from survival.
