The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, released on Thursday striking footage of the destruction of an Israeli Merkava tank in Jabalia, north of the Gaza Strip. The operation took place days earlier as part of the “Moses’ Staff” campaign — a series of precision strikes launched by the resistance.
The video shows Al-Qassam fighters preparing a specially designed martyrdom explosive device, before one fighter courageously climbs onto a Merkava tank near the Al-Omari Mosque in central Jabalia. He then drops the device directly into the commander’s cabin, triggering a massive explosion that kills four Israeli occupation soldiers.
The Israeli occupation army later acknowledged, on Monday, the deaths of a lieutenant and three soldiers from the 52nd Armoured Battalion during clashes with the Palestinian resistance in northern Gaza — a territory subjected to an ongoing campaign of genocide for nearly two years.
According to an official military statement published on the army’s website, “three fighters from the armoured corps, including a lieutenant, were killed in battle in northern Gaza.”
Israeli state broadcaster KAN confirmed that another soldier had also been killed in the incident and that his family had been informed, pending approval to release his name. The army refrained from providing further details regarding the circumstances of the attack.
At the time, Hebrew media outlets reported that several Israeli Occupation soldiers were killed after their armoured vehicle was blown up in the vicinity of Jabalia, northeast of Gaza City. The news site Hadshot B’Zman stated that four armoured corps soldiers were killed at dawn on Monday when an explosive device detonated in the Jabalia area.
The strike occurred at approximately 5:00 a.m. near Jabalia, where the explosive was hurled at the tank crew. The vehicle also came under direct gunfire targeting its commander. Following the blast, flames engulfed the tank, killing all members of its crew.
On Saturday, the Al-Qassam Brigades announced a series of high-profile operations targeting Israeli tanks and armoured vehicles across multiple areas of the Gaza Strip. These operations coincided with the occupation army’s formal launch of a large-scale military campaign, codenamed “Gideon’s Chariots 2,” aimed at the full invasion and occupation of Gaza City.
