Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has warned that any attack on the country’s energy infrastructure would trigger a devastating response against Israel, threatening to turn the occupied Palestinian territories into “scorched earth” and force Israeli settlers towards Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula.
Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi, a spokesperson for the IRGC, issued the warning in a message addressing the potential consequences of renewed attacks on Iran’s energy facilities.
Mohebbi said Iran’s scientific and technological capabilities would allow its young specialists to immediately repair any damage inflicted on the country’s energy infrastructure.
However, he warned that targeting those facilities would carry severe consequences for Israel.
“Any attack on Iran’s energy infrastructure, although our young scientists would repair it immediately, would turn the occupied territories into scorched earth forever and drive those who have usurped them into the Sinai Desert,” Mohebbi declared.
He added a further warning: “The world will see what happens.”
IRGC Adviser Warns of More Devastating Iranian Retaliation
In separate remarks, Major General Mohammad Reza Naqdi, an adviser to the commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, accused the United States and other adversaries of the Islamic Revolution of miscalculating the Iranian people’s determination to resist foreign attacks.
Naqdi said Iranians would confront aggressors using all available weapons and resources to prevent them from achieving their objectives.
According to statements carried by Iran’s Tasnim News Agency, Naqdi argued that Iran’s adversaries had been reduced to relying on missile launches and indiscriminate bombardment.
“The enemy has nothing left but the ability to launch missiles and carry out indiscriminate bombing, while the fighters of Islam have delivered a crushing response to these acts of aggression,” he said.
Naqdi warned that any renewed aggression against Iran would be met with retaliation far more devastating and consequential than previous responses.
He maintained that Iran’s adversaries were fully aware of the consequences of launching another attack.
Iran’s New Defence Minister Threatens an Unprecedented Response
The warnings follow similar remarks by Iran’s newly appointed Defence Minister, Mehrdad Ketabchi, who threatened an unprecedented and unexpected response to any attack against the country.
Ketabchi issued the warning in statements made the previous day, shortly after Iran’s Islamic Consultative Assembly approved his appointment as defence minister.
His remarks added to a series of warnings from senior Iranian military officials, who have declared that further attacks on Iranian territory or strategic infrastructure would be met with intensified retaliation.
