An Israeli official has claimed that several Gulf states are moving towards purchasing weapons systems and military equipment from Tel Aviv, pointing to what he described as broad cooperation with different countries amid escalating regional and security tensions.
Israeli newspaper Maariv quoted an official in the country’s defence industry as saying that “there is broad cooperation with different countries”, adding that Gulf states are increasingly moving towards purchasing systems and weapons produced by Israeli military industries.
The remarks were made during discussions surrounding the Typhoon naval gun system developed by Israeli company Rafael.
No Gulf state has issued an official response to the Israeli claims, which emerged as military strikes between Washington and Tehran resumed.
Khamenei Addresses Gulf Leaders Amid Regional Escalation
More recently, Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei addressed a message to Gulf rulers while declaring that Tehran was closer than ever to victory in its war against the United States and the Israeli occupation.
In a message marking Iran’s “Unity Week”, Khamenei said: “The Islamic world is passing through a decisive and critical stage”, arguing that Muslims are now capable of playing an “influential and historic role”.
He said what he described as “the final triumph of truth over falsehood and Islam over disbelief” had become closer than ever.
Khamenei called for unity in confronting the United States and Israel, warning that divisions among Muslims only serve their enemies.
He said the “first condition” for achieving what he described as victory was “unity among Muslims”, stressing that unity in confronting “global disbelief” was neither a superficial nor temporary matter, but rather a “Qur’anic strategy” and an authentic Islamic teaching.
He urged Muslims to make the principle of being “firm against the disbelievers and compassionate among themselves” central to their thinking, discourse and conduct in confronting what he described as “global disbelief”.
US and Israel Described as Enemies of Islamic Unity
Khamenei devoted a substantial part of his message to attacking the United States and Israel, describing them as “bitter enemies” of Islamic unity.
He said their hostility was not limited to Iran or the “Islamic Resistance Front”, but extended to “the entire Islamic nation”, including the peoples of the region.
According to Khamenei, the United States and Israel had “removed the deceptive masks” covering their colonial ambitions and revealed “their bloody claws to the world”, urging Muslims to closely examine ongoing developments.
Referring to the current war, Khamenei questioned whether Palestinians would have been subjected to what he described as Israeli oppression and crimes had Muslims stood “as one hand”.
He continued: “If the peoples and governments living along the shores of the Persian Gulf had formed their union under the banner of Islam, would those rootless and corrupt men have dared to covet their lands and possessions from thousands of kilometres away?”
Khamenei called on the rulers of Islamic countries, particularly those in West Asia and the Gulf, to “recognise the real enemy”, uncover its plans and confront them.
He argued that the solution to the problems facing the Islamic world lies in “unity of purpose, friendship and cooperation in the path of goodness”.
