An Iranian military source has rejected claims by the United States Central Command that Iran does not control the Strait of Hormuz, insisting that the strategic waterway remains closed.
The source, quoted by Iran’s Fars News Agency, said the strait would remain closed and would not be reopened while US attacks continue.
The statement came after the US military claimed that Iran was not in control of the Strait of Hormuz.
US President Donald Trump had earlier threatened direct strikes against Iranian infrastructure in response to any attack targeting vessels in the strait.
In a post on Truth Social on Wednesday, Trump said Washington would “bomb and destroy one bridge or one power station” if Iran fired on any ship in the Strait of Hormuz.
He added that potential targets could include facilities near Tehran or within the Iranian capital itself.
