Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said on Wednesday that it had targeted 85 US military facilities in Bahrain and Kuwait in response to a series of US strikes on Iran the previous night.
In a statement carried by Iranian media, the Revolutionary Guard said its naval and aerospace forces had conducted a joint operation using missiles and drones. The operation marked Iran’s first response to the US attacks targeting sites in the coastal cities of Hormozgan and Mahshahr.
US Military Sites in Bahrain and Kuwait Targeted
According to the statement, the operation targeted Salman Port and the headquarters of the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain, as well as Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait. The Revolutionary Guard said these locations were among 85 US military facilities targeted in the operation.
The Revolutionary Guard also said that a US MQ-9 drone had been shot down, but provided no further details about the incident.
US Strikes on Iran
The US Central Command had earlier announced a series of attacks on Iran, claiming they were carried out in response to Iranian attacks on three commercial vessels travelling through the Strait of Hormuz.
According to a statement by US Central Command, American forces began conducting what it described as a series of powerful strikes against Iran, accusing Tehran of targeting and attacking commercial vessels carrying civilian crews in an international waterway.

The latest escalation comes despite the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington on 18 June 2026.
The memorandum provides for 60 days of negotiations aimed at reaching a comprehensive agreement to end the war launched by Washington and Tel Aviv against Tehran on 28 February.
