The Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom has claimed that the United States military has begun constructing a large base along the perimeter fence surrounding the Gaza Strip, near the occupation’s Re’im military base.
According to the report, the facility is intended to serve as both a military and civilian headquarters for international personnel and forces expected to arrive in the area as part of efforts to advance President Donald Trump’s proposed plan.
The new site is also expected to replace the multinational headquarters previously located in Kiryat Gat.
Command and Control Infrastructure Planned
As part of the infrastructure development for the new base, plans reportedly include the construction of a command and control tower that will be used to oversee forces deployed in the field.
The report further stated that the United States has already begun issuing various tenders related to the construction project.
These include contracts for the provision of portable buildings that are expected to be used by deployed personnel and command staff until permanent facilities are completed.
Preparations Already Underway
According to the newspaper, the tenders indicate that preparations for the project have already entered the implementation phase, with temporary operational infrastructure expected to support incoming international personnel while construction of the permanent base continues.
