Israeli media outlets and officials have reflected growing concern and criticism inside Israel over developments on the northern front with Lebanon, as Israeli researchers and commentators describe the situation as one of the most difficult periods since the ceasefire came into effect.
In this context, the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth quoted Dr Michael Milshtein, a researcher at the Dayan Center at Tel Aviv University, who said that “Israel is sinking into the swamp”. He added:
“We are suffering losses in a frustrating war that is not affected by occupying another kilometre of territory or carrying out another assassination, while our hands remain tied by Washington regarding any attacks north of the Litani River.”
Israeli media platforms reported several incidents in the north that resulted in injuries, while other reports spoke of numerous casualties and fatalities during what they described as particularly difficult hours in Lebanon.
Emergency Measures Across Northern Israel
As the security situation continues to deteriorate, i24NEWS reported that Nahariya Hospital had been instructed to open its underground emergency complex. Authorities also decided to suspend classes in northern settlements due to the expanding range of rocket attacks.
At the same time, the Israeli military announced the closure of public beaches in frontline areas along the border with Lebanon.
Israeli media have described the current situation as the most intense and challenging day since the ceasefire began, both along the northern border and for Israeli troops operating in southern Lebanon.
According to these reports, Hezbollah launched more than 26 explosive drones over the past 24 hours targeting Israeli military forces in southern Lebanon.
Frequent Air Raid Alerts and Sleepless Nights
Israeli media reports also indicated that air raid sirens were sounding across northern areas at an unusually high rate, averaging one alert every 22 minutes, amid dozens of warnings and continuous launches towards the Galilee region.
Coverage from the north portrayed a population enduring another sleepless night, marked by persistent sirens, explosions, interception operations, ongoing attacks, and repeated movement to designated safe areas.
Northern Officials Criticise Israeli Government
David Azoulay, head of the Metula local council, launched a sharp attack on the Israeli government, describing the reality faced by residents of the Upper Galilee and frontline communities as “impossible”.
He said:
“This is yet another night of exposure to attacks, air raid sirens, rushing to fortified shelters, and an impossible reality endured by the residents of the Upper Galilee and the frontline communities. The Israeli government simply does not care. This insane reality cannot continue to be normalised.”
The developments come as the Islamic Resistance continues its operations in southern Lebanon and northern occupied Palestine, inflicting human and material losses on the Israeli occupation.
