Israeli media has revealed an escalation in military coordination between Washington and Tel Aviv, raising questions over whether a direct confrontation with Iran is drawing closer. According to Channel 12, Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir has been intensifying communications with the commander of US Central Command, Admiral Brad Cooper.
These discussions are centred on potential military steps targeting Iran, reflecting a coordinated approach between the United States and Israel as tensions continue to escalate across the region.
Strategic Coordination on Potential Military Action
Recent reports indicate that Zamir has held multiple high-level exchanges with Cooper aimed at aligning operational scenarios in the event of a military escalation against Tehran. The discussions suggest that both sides are actively preparing contingency plans rather than engaging in routine dialogue.
At the same time, Israeli military leadership is reportedly preparing for the possibility of launching a new strike on Iranian territory. Strategic assessments indicate that any such operation could target critical infrastructure, including energy networks and transport routes, should a decision to escalate be made.
Elevated Readiness Amid Escalation Scenarios
Alongside offensive preparations, the Israeli military continues to reinforce its defensive posture. Forces remain on heightened alert, anticipating rapid developments that could trigger another round of confrontation.
This dual-track approach highlights a broader military doctrine focused on maintaining readiness for both pre-emptive action and reactive defence, depending on how the situation evolves.
Washington Weighs Limited Strike Option
According to the same report, the United States is currently evaluating the option of carrying out a limited strike within Iranian territory. The objective of such a move would be to pressure Tehran into reaching an agreement over its nuclear programme.
However, no final decision has been made regarding the timing or scope of this potential strike, indicating ongoing deliberations within US leadership.
Focus on Iran’s Strategic Assets
Coordination between Washington and Tel Aviv also includes close monitoring of Iran’s efforts to restore and reinforce its infrastructure. Any future military action is expected to focus on high-value targets such as energy facilities, steel production sites, and oil and gas reserves.
This targeting strategy underscores a broader objective of undermining Iran’s economic and logistical capabilities in the event of escalation.
