Footage circulating from the battlefield captures the moment Hezbollah forces targeted an Israeli rescue unit during an operation in southern Lebanon, exposing the vulnerability of frontline response teams operating under active fire.
Rising Casualties Since “Operation Roar of the Lion”
The Israeli Ministry of Health has updated its figures, confirming that total injuries requiring hospital treatment have reached 8,482 since the launch of “Operation Roar of the Lion” on 28 February through to Sunday night.
According to the data, the northern front alone accounts for 581 injuries since the ceasefire with Iran came into effect. Of these, 163 injuries were recorded after the separate ceasefire with Lebanon. On Sunday alone, 30 injuries were registered in the northern sector, signalling continued instability despite formal agreements.
Field Admission: Soldier Killed, Multiple Critically Wounded
In a rare admission, the Israeli military spokesperson confirmed that one soldier was killed and six others injured during clashes in southern Lebanon. Four of the wounded were reported to be in critical condition.
Further operational details released by Israeli military radio outlined the sequence of events in the town of Taybeh. A Golani Brigade tank reportedly broke down in the morning, prompting a repair attempt in an exposed zone.
Hezbollah forces responded by deploying an explosive drone directly at the disabled tank during the repair effort. The strike resulted in the death of one soldier and injuries to six others, forcing the deployment of a military helicopter for evacuation.
Targeting the Rescue Operation
The escalation did not stop at the initial strike. During the evacuation process, Hezbollah launched two additional explosive drones towards the rescue teams.
One of the drones reportedly detonated just metres from the evacuation helicopter, placing both the wounded and rescue personnel under direct threat and highlighting a calculated targeting of secondary response units.
Surge in Military Suicides
Alongside battlefield losses, internal strain within Israeli forces is intensifying. The Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported that 11 soldiers and police personnel died by suicide in April alone.
Among them were eight active-duty personnel and three reservists who had participated in the war on Gaza.
The report attributes this sharp increase to sustained psychological pressure and accumulated trauma over the past three years. The figure marks a significant spike compared to 2025, which saw a total of 21 military suicides across the entire year.
Ongoing Resistance Operations
These developments come as the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon continues its military operations, asserting its right to respond to ongoing Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement that came into effect at midnight between 16 and 17 April.
The persistence of these operations underscores a volatile frontline where ceasefire terms remain fragile and regularly contested.
