The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has issued a direct warning that any further aggression against Iran will be met with a decisive response that “exceeds expectations, positioning its stance within a broader pattern of confrontation with Washington. The statement described the recent US operation in Isfahan as a continuation of longstanding American failures in dealing with the Islamic Republic.
The warning coincided with the anniversary of Operation Eagle Claw, reinforcing a narrative that frames current tensions as part of a historical continuum of failed US interventions.
Framing a “Third Imposed War”
According to the IRGC statement, recent developments in Isfahan fall under what it described as a “third imposed war” led by the United States and Israel against Iran. The language positions this phase as a repetition of previous defeats suffered by Washington, asserting that any renewed confrontation would end in a similar outcome.
The statement emphasised that US policy remains fundamentally hostile towards Iran, arguing that Washington has not internalised the lessons of its earlier failures.
Escalation Threshold and Strategic Deterrence
The IRGC warned that any further hostile action by the US or its allies would trigger a response “beyond their expectations”, grounded in what it described as Iran’s strategic deterrence capabilities. This framing signals an intent to escalate beyond proportional retaliation if conflict intensifies.
It also referenced what it termed a posture of “deliberate silence” currently adopted by Iranian armed forces, stressing that this is not a sign of weakness but a calculated decision aligned with directives from Iran’s senior leadership.
Military Readiness and Warning of Severe Consequences
The statement concluded with a clear warning that any miscalculation by the US or its allies could escalate into what it described as a “devastating storm”. It asserted that Iran’s defence and intelligence capabilities have reached a level of preparedness capable of addressing a full spectrum of threats, including land and air operations.
The IRGC further claimed readiness to detain potential aggressors, stating that preparations are in place to handle captured forces if escalation moves into direct confrontation.
