Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, sharply criticised Donald Trump, stating that the US president made seven claims within a single hour, all of which he described as false.
In a statement published on the platform X, Qalibaf asserted that the United States did not achieve any gains in the conflict through what he characterised as misinformation, and warned that such an approach would not deliver progress in ongoing negotiations.
Hormuz Passage Tied to Iranian Control
Qalibaf outlined Iran’s position regarding the Strait of Hormuz, stating that the continuation of restrictive measures would directly impact maritime access. He indicated that the strait would not remain open under sustained pressure, and that vessel transit would proceed strictly according to designated routes and subject to Iranian authorisation.
He further emphasised that decisions surrounding the opening or closure of the strait, along with its governing regulations, would be determined by developments on the ground rather than narratives circulated through social media channels.
Information Warfare and Public Perception
Qalibaf described media campaigns and the shaping of public opinion as a central component of modern conflict, but maintained that the Iranian public would not be influenced by such tactics.
He concluded by urging audiences to rely on verified and accurate updates regarding negotiations, pointing specifically to the recent remarks delivered by the spokesperson of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
