In a moment that stirred pride across Malaysia and the wider Muslim world, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim delivered a courageous and uncompromising speech at the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha (15 September 2025). His words cut through the routine of empty condemnations, offering a firm call to action that resonated deeply with Muslims everywhere.
Condemning the Israeli Strike on Doha
Standing before Arab and Islamic leaders, Anwar condemned — in the strongest and clearest terms — the Israeli airstrikes on Doha itself. “To rain bombs on the capital of a sovereign state is lawless, barbaric, and indefensible,” he declared. He described the attack not only as an assault on Qatar’s sovereignty but as an assault on all Muslim nations, a reckless provocation designed to undermine peace efforts led by Qatar.
A Voice for Gaza and Beyond
Anwar painted the grim reality of Gaza: families obliterated, hospitals reduced to rubble, children buried beneath the ruins. He reminded the summit that the same pattern of Israeli aggression now extends to Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Iraq, and even Iran — proof that Zionist expansionism threatens the entire region, not just Palestine.
Most strikingly, he rejected Israel’s open declaration that there will never be a Palestinian state, calling it nothing less than “a declaration of permanent apartheid.”

In a sharp critique of Arab and Islamic passivity, Anwar told leaders: “Our people have become weary of words. They have watched us issueing condemnation after condemnation, while Israel escalates with impunity.”
He stressed that condemnations will not stop missiles and that real action is required:
- Severe punitive measures against Israel.
- Suspension of diplomatic ties.
- Halting trade relations with the occupation state.
Courage in the Face of America’s Double Standards
Addressing nations that hold close ties with the United States, Anwar pointed to Washington’s duplicity: when America encouraged dialogue with Iran, Israel answered with bombs; when it encouraged mediation with Hamas, Israel struck Doha.
His message was clear — Arab and Muslim leaders must stop hiding behind U.S. excuses and instead shoulder their responsibility to act decisively for Palestine.
Call to Protect the Gaza Aid Flotilla
The Malaysian Prime Minister also highlighted the humanitarian mission currently sailing toward Gaza. This flotilla carries not weapons but aid for a starving and besieged people. He urged Muslim nations to ensure its safe arrival, warning that allowing Israel to block it violently would be a betrayal of the Ummah’s conscience and duty to defend the oppressed.

Anwar Ibrahim closed his address with a heartfelt prayer: “May Allah grant us the courage to act and the strength to endure.”
