US President Donald Trump is considering a plan for a large-scale military campaign against Iran that could destabilise the government in Tehran, according to the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation.
The broadcaster reported that the proposed military action would involve a major expansion of the current operation, adding that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is among those pressing for this scenario.
It also cited an informed source as saying that Qatar, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are pushing for a ten-day ceasefire aimed at reviving the memorandum of understanding signed between the United States and Iran.
Earlier today, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei confirmed that Tehran had received proposals to reduce tensions, stating that they were under consideration.
Trump had previously threatened that Iran would pay several times over for every American soldier killed.
“Every time Iran kills an American soldier, it will pay many times over for this crime,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.
He added that these instructions had been communicated to Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine, and “all military commanders”.
