Israeli media outlets have reported that Saudi Arabia has conveyed new conditions to the United States regarding the prospect of normalising relations with Israel and returning to discussions surrounding the so called Abraham Accords.
According to the Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom, Saudi officials informed Washington that the Kingdom is prepared to resume discussions on joining the Abraham Accords under specific conditions.
Two Conditions Presented to Washington
The report states that Saudi Arabia has set two key conditions for reviving the normalisation process.
The first condition is the replacement of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The second requires the reversal of all measures implemented by Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich in the occupied West Bank.
Trump Renewed Calls to Expand the Abraham Accords
At the end of May, US President Donald Trump called on several countries across the Middle East and beyond, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Pakistan and others, to join the Abraham Accords following the conclusion of an agreement with Iran.
Trump said he had discussed the issue with a number of regional leaders during talks involving Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Egypt, Türkiye, Pakistan and Bahrain. He stressed the need to expand the normalisation process to include additional countries across the region.
Regional Response Remains Mixed
Meanwhile, the American newspaper The Hill reported that President Trump’s unexpected request for those countries to normalise relations with Israel, as part of discussions linked to Iran, encountered a far more complex regional reality.
According to the report, Pakistan, which has been acting as an intermediary in talks between the United States and Iran, firmly rejected the proposal, while several other countries maintained what the newspaper described as a noticeable silence.
