The Iranian army announced on Wednesday that eight of its personnel were killed in the latest US strikes on southern Iran.
In a statement carried by state television, the army said eight members of Iran’s air and naval forces were killed in Bandar Abbas and Bushehr following what it described as a “criminal aggression” carried out by the US military against areas in southern Iran on Wednesday morning.
US Strikes Target Southern Iranian Cities
In the early hours of Wednesday, the United States launched attacks on Sirik and Bandar Abbas, both located near the Strait of Hormuz, as well as Mahshahr, Bandar Imam and Hamidiyeh in Khuzestan Province.
The US Central Command said more than 80 military targets were struck in response to Iranian attacks on commercial vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran Says 85 US Military Facilities Were Targeted
In response, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced that it had targeted 85 US military facilities in Bahrain and Kuwait using missiles and drones.
The strikes, according to the Revolutionary Guard, were carried out in retaliation for the overnight US attacks on southern Iran.s.
