Israel could resume its war on the Gaza Strip within two to three months, according to assessments reported by Israel’s Channel 12, with Tel Aviv reportedly waiting for approval from US President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace.
Channel 12 reported on Friday that the Board of Peace, headed by Nikolay Mladenov, could declare that Hamas has violated the ceasefire agreement, potentially providing Israel with political legitimacy to resume the war.
Two-Month Deadline Linked to Disarmament Demands
According to the Israeli report, the US plan for the post-war phase gives Hamas approximately two months after the Board of Peace and the Palestinian technocratic council begin operating to start disarming.
If Hamas refuses or does not implement the demand, Israel considers itself authorised to resume military operations in Gaza.
Channel 12 reported that this position had been coordinated with the US administration. Tel Aviv considers the disarmament of Hamas a fundamental condition for any political or civilian progress in the Gaza Strip, while the Israeli military is already preparing operational plans in anticipation of the political process failing.
Palestinian Resistance Groups Reject Disarmament
Hamas and other Palestinian factions maintain that the weapons of the resistance are a red line and are not subject to negotiation or compromise under any political agreement.
Meanwhile, media reports have discussed alternative proposals, including placing weapons in storage rather than surrendering them.
