Hezbollah announced on Friday that it had carried out eight operations targeting Israeli occupation forces in southern Lebanon, including the destruction of four Merkava tanks and a military vehicle, as well as an engagement that reportedly forced an Israeli force to withdraw from the outskirts of Majdal Zoun.
In a series of statements, the group said it had monitored a force consisting of 12 armoured vehicles moving late Thursday night from the town of Shamaa towards the Rajmine-Tayr Harfa junction, before advancing through the Wadi Hassan area towards the outskirts of Majdal Zoun in the Tyre district of southern Lebanon.
According to Hezbollah, the force advanced under heavy fire support and phosphorus shelling. The group said it targeted the formation with repeated rocket barrages, forcing it to retreat, while simultaneously striking concentrations of Israeli vehicles and troops in Shamaa with rockets and artillery fire.
Hezbollah also claimed that its fighters targeted and destroyed two Merkava tanks in Shamaa using guided missiles.
Ambush on the Outskirts of Majdal Zoun
The group stated that in the early hours of Friday, Israeli forces attempted to advance once again towards the outskirts of Majdal Zoun.
Hezbollah said its fighters carried out an ambush against the advancing force, engaging Israeli soldiers with light and medium weapons as well as rocket-propelled munitions. During the confrontation, the group claimed to have destroyed two additional Merkava tanks.
It added that its artillery units launched successive rocket salvos against the Israeli force, ultimately forcing it to withdraw towards the town of Tayr Harfa.
According to Hezbollah, as the force was retreating from Wadi Hassan towards Tayr Harfa, its fighters detonated an explosive device against a military vehicle, resulting in a direct hit and its destruction.
Additional Operations
In separate statements, Hezbollah announced a number of additional attacks against Israeli targets.
The group said it targeted a military vehicle in Tayr Harfa using an Ababil drone and struck a force positioned inside a building in Shamaa with another drone attack, claiming a confirmed hit.
It also stated that its air defence units confronted an Israeli Hermes 450 drone over the Iqlim al Tuffah region with a surface-to-air missile, forcing it to retreat.
Hezbollah further announced rocket attacks against the newly established Blat military position, as well as rocket strikes targeting gatherings of Israeli vehicles and troops in the towns of Qawzah and Rashaf.
