US President Donald Trump is reportedly becoming increasingly frustrated with Iran’s handling of ongoing negotiations, according to a source cited by CNN.
The source said Trump remains angered by the continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz and its impact on global oil prices, as tensions in the region continue to escalate.
Earlier, Trump issued a direct warning to Iran in a post published on his Truth Social platform, threatening severe consequences if Iranian leaders fail to act quickly.
“Time is running out for Iran. They need to move fast, otherwise there will be nothing left,” Trump wrote.
Meanwhile, the American outlet Axios reported that Trump warned Tehran he would launch a far harsher strike than previous attacks if Iran failed to present a better offer.
Axios also cited US officials as saying that Trump still wants to reach an agreement to end the war. However, Iran’s rejection of several US demands and its refusal to make major concessions regarding its nuclear programme have pushed military action back onto the table.
According to the officials, Trump is expected to hold a Situation Room meeting with senior members of his national security team on Tuesday to discuss potential military options, Axios reported.
