Hamas called on Palestinians to remain steadfast and reject all displacement plans, stressing that any discussion about disarming the resistance aligns with the agenda of the occupation.
In a statement marking the 78th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba, Hamas reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the weapons of the resistance, arguing that any call for disarmament while the Israeli occupation continues constitutes alignment with the enemy’s efforts to impose control, deepen aggression, and erase the core of the Palestinian cause.
The movement stressed that the resistance’s weapons are directly tied to the existence of the occupation itself, adding that Palestinians must continue standing firm against displacement schemes until the liberation of the land, Jerusalem, and the Palestinian prisoners is achieved.
Hamas Reaffirms Right of Return
Hamas described the right of return for millions of Palestinian refugees as a sacred individual and collective right that cannot be abandoned or compromised under any circumstances.
The movement also called for ensuring dignified living conditions for Palestinian refugees until their return is realised.
According to the statement, the root cause of conflict in the region remains the continued Israeli occupation of Palestinian land. Hamas said the occupation’s ongoing aggression and crimes over the past 78 years represent a stain on the conscience of those who remain silent or fail to hold Israeli leaders accountable.
Criticism of International Double Standards
Hamas further condemned what it described as international double standards and political bias in favour of the occupation, stating that some countries continue to support Israeli policies while ignoring Palestinian rights.
The movement called on those states to reverse their positions and support the Palestinian people’s right to self determination and an end to the occupation.
Warning Over Prisoner Abuses
The statement also warned about escalating violations against Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli prisons.
Hamas urged the United Nations and international human rights organisations to intervene immediately to stop the abuses, criminalise proposed legislation concerning the execution of prisoners, and pressure Israel to revoke such measures.
