The Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Army, Major General Amir Hatami, issued a sharply worded warning on Monday, stating that any attempt by United States aircraft carriers to approach the Strait of Hormuz will be met with a decisive military response. He revealed that Iran has deployed cruise missiles and so-called “suicide drones” across the region as part of its active deterrence posture.
Hatami stated that US aircraft carriers had attempted to move closer to the strategic waterway while relying on radar silence, but stressed that Iran’s response capabilities remained fully operational and engaged.
Active Military Readiness and Regional Control
He further confirmed that both cruise missile systems and combat drones had been activated in the airspace, signalling heightened operational readiness. According to Hatami, safeguarding regional security is a non-negotiable priority for Iran.
The Iranian commander also emphasised that the country’s armed forces maintain continuous and close surveillance over Gulf waters, asserting that “every inch of these waters falls within the scope of our will”.
