A report by Axios reveals that United States Central Command has developed a military strategy involving short, high-impact strikes against Iran, designed to force a shift in stalled negotiations.
According to informed sources, the proposed strikes would target critical infrastructure. The objective is not prolonged escalation, but to pressure Tehran into returning to negotiations under more flexible terms.
Conditional Execution Pending Presidential Approval
Sources indicate that the plan remains contingent on a direct order from Donald Trump. As of Tuesday evening, no such authorisation had been issued.
Trump is currently favouring the continuation of a maritime blockade strategy, assessing whether sustained economic pressure will force Iran to retreat without immediate military engagement. However, the military option remains under active consideration should this approach fail.
Trump: Blockade More Effective Than Airstrikes
In an interview with Axios, Trump stated that the blockade is “more effective than bombing,” claiming that Iran is “choking” under the pressure.
He further asserted that Tehran is seeking a deal that would lift the blockade, a concession he is unwilling to grant, citing concerns over Iran acquiring nuclear capabilities.
Disputed Claims on Iran’s Oil Infrastructure
Trump also claimed that Iran’s oil storage facilities and pipelines could soon face internal failures due to its inability to export oil. However, energy experts have cast doubt on the credibility of this assertion, questioning both the technical basis and the likelihood of such outcomes.
