In a revealing account of how Israel shapes global opinion online, former Israeli intelligence officer Ella Keinan outlined what she described as a “digital front” operated from Tel Aviv. Through her organisation BrightMind, Keinan detailed a structured campaign aimed at reshaping narratives surrounding the war on Gaza using coordinated technology, mass mobilisation, and wide scale media influence.
Speaking at the Global Jewish Summit, she described the operation as a form of unconventional warfare, designed not merely to respond to criticism but to actively impose a global agenda from the outset.
“We are not defending, we are attacking to define what the world talks about,” she stated, noting that her network includes more than 60,000 volunteers worldwide working to amplify pro Israeli content. According to her, these efforts have generated nearly three billion views since the war began.
Narrative Engineering from Day One
Keinan revealed that she was behind the “Hamas is ISIS” slogan launched immediately after 7 October 2023, describing it as a strategic move to frame the global narrative early. She claimed the messaging spread widely enough to appear in speeches by former US President Joe Biden, presenting it as evidence of the campaign’s influence.
Beyond content creation, Keinan explained that her organisation distributes ready made media packages to non Jewish and non Israeli influencers. These packages include videos, scripts, and images designed for publication across their platforms, enabling the campaign to reach audiences beyond traditional pro Israel circles.
“We create content for non Jewish influencers who collaborate with us,” she said, highlighting efforts to broaden influence across Western audiences, particularly among younger demographics.
A Coordinated Digital Army
Keinan stated that the network has since expanded to include more than 100,000 participants organised into digital communities. These participants are directed through closed channels on platforms such as Telegram and WhatsApp, where they receive structured daily tasks.
These tasks include:
- Coordinated publishing to push content into trending algorithms
- Mass reporting of opposing content to trigger removal or suppression
- Flooding comment sections with pre written responses in multiple languages
The operation relies on tools such as Telegram bots, global trend monitoring systems using open source intelligence, and cloud based platforms for distributing media assets.
Keinan stated that these efforts have collectively achieved nearly three billion views since October 2023, reflecting the scale and reach of the campaign.
Targeting Platforms and Information Gateways
Her remarks come amid growing recognition of the digital arena as a central battleground in shaping international opinion. The confrontation is no longer limited to military operations but extends deeply into social media platforms, search engines, and academic institutions.
Reports published by Israeli outlet Globes and other digital media sources confirm that BrightMind produces tailored content for non Israeli influencers, presenting it in ways that appear neutral or personal despite being part of a coordinated campaign. This approach enables broader reach, particularly among Western youth audiences.
Mass Reporting and Content Suppression
Media and technical reports published between 2024 and 2025 indicate that one of the core tactics used by these networks is coordinated mass reporting. Thousands of users are mobilised to report specific content simultaneously, often leading to its removal or reduced visibility by platform algorithms.
These operations are reinforced by coordinated commenting strategies designed to shape public discourse and steer online conversations.
In previous statements published across academic and media platforms, Keinan also disclosed that her organisation has been actively editing thousands of entries on Wikipedia, describing it as a central arena in shaping public knowledge. She referenced plans to influence up to 10,000 entries as part of what she framed as correcting biased information.
Artificial Intelligence: The Next Phase
Looking ahead, Keinan discussed plans to develop a proprietary artificial intelligence engine that does not rely on sources such as Wikipedia or Reddit. The project aims to deliver what she described as “reliable answers” based on curated sources, with the goal of influencing how users access information through AI driven tools.
Western media reports throughout 2024 have also highlighted coordinated digital campaigns targeting universities in the United States and Europe. These efforts reportedly involved organised complaint campaigns and online pressure tactics, leading in some cases to cancelled academic events or disciplinary actions against students.
These developments point to a broader transformation in modern conflict, where digital platforms have become a primary arena for influence. Technology, media, and political strategy are increasingly intertwined in shaping global perception.
Keinan’s statements, supported by media reporting and specialised publications between 2024 and 2025, outline a comprehensive model of digital warfare built on coordination, technological infrastructure, and influence over information systems.
This raises critical questions about the role of digital platforms, the limits of organised influence, and the absence of clear frameworks to regulate such operations in the global digital space.
