ABC News has reported, citing US officials and a source familiar with the discussions, that significant disagreements remain in negotiations with Iran, particularly over the duration and conditions of any suspension of uranium enrichment.
The sources indicated that negotiators are exploring multiple mechanisms to address Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium. However, a full reduction of enrichment levels within Iran may not be feasible, as portions of the material are considered insufficiently stable for such processing.
Nuclear File Dominates Talks
According to the same sources, current discussions are narrowly focused and do not include Iran’s missile programme or its support for regional proxy groups as part of the proposed memorandum of understanding.
Separately, sources speaking to Axios confirmed that substantial progress has been made in the talks between Washington and Tehran, although gaps persist on several core issues.
Talks Continue Amid Unresolved Gaps
Earlier, Donald Trump stated that negotiations with Iran are set to continue over the weekend, signalling ongoing engagement despite unresolved points of contention.
