A senior Israeli defence official confirmed on Saturday that Israel is preparing to target Iranian energy infrastructure, but is awaiting formal approval from the United States before proceeding. According to Reuters, any such strikes are likely to take place within the coming days, signalling a potential escalation in the ongoing confrontation.
In response, the Iranian military issued a stark warning, declaring that the entire region would turn into “hell” for both the United States and Israel if the war is further escalated. The statement reflects heightened tensions and the growing risk of a wider regional conflict.
Trump Issues 48-Hour Ultimatum to Iran
These developments follow a 48-hour ultimatum issued by US President Donald Trump, demanding that Iran reach an agreement to end the conflict, which has now persisted for over a month. Speaking on Saturday, Trump reiterated that Iran must act within the remaining timeframe or face severe consequences, warning that failure to comply would result in “hell”.
A day earlier, Trump had escalated his rhetoric by threatening to target Iranian bridges and power generation facilities. He emphasised that the US military had not yet fully engaged in dismantling Iran’s remaining infrastructure.
Posting on Truth Social, Trump stated: “Our great and powerful military has not yet begun destroying what remains in Iran. Bridges are next, followed by power stations. The new leadership of the regime knows what must be done, and it must be done quickly.”
Escalation Risks Intensify
Trump also claimed that Iran is eager to reach an agreement to halt the fighting, describing the Iranian side as resilient but under mounting pressure. The convergence of military preparations, public threats, and diplomatic ultimatums underscores a volatile moment that could redefine the trajectory of the conflict in the coming days.
