Advisers to US President Donald Trump stated that he is more inclined to end the war on Iran than Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, noting that there are differing calculations between the United States and the occupation regarding the war.
The Axios website quoted US officials as saying that Trump’s primary objectives are to destroy Iran’s missile and nuclear programmes, its naval capabilities, and the funding of its proxies. They affirmed that the “president” would view regime change as an additional gain, but intends to end the war once his main objectives are achieved.
The officials pointed out that the occupation has other objectives behind the war on Iran, stating: “We know that,” and adding that “Israel will attempt to assassinate Iran’s new leader (Mojtaba Khamenei), and they are far more interested in that than we are.”
The officials claimed that “the stability of the global oil market is a greater priority for the United States than for Israel,” adding: “We want stability, but Netanyahu does not care much about that, especially regarding Iran, and Israel does not dislike chaos (…) We understand the perception that we are carrying out Israel’s orders, but that is not true, and we recognise that this perception is not in our favour.”
