Iran and Lebanon’s Hezbollah continue targeting multiple areas inside Israel using various types of missiles and drones, forcing millions of Israelis to remain inside shelters and fortified rooms for extended periods.
Missile strikes launched by Iran and Hezbollah are distributed across different areas of Israel, stretching from Eilat in the south to the Galilee and Haifa in the north.
Both sides carried out new simultaneous missile attacks today. Air raid sirens sounded across the Galilee, the Haifa Bay area, and Acre to warn of Hezbollah missiles, while Iranian bombardment targeted eastern Negev, the Dead Sea region, and settlements in the southern West Bank.
Waleed Al-Omari, Al Jazeera’s bureau chief in Palestine, said the notable aspect of today’s strikes is that the map published by Israel’s Home Front Command included the Dimona reactor in the Negev, which Israel refers to as the Nuclear Research Centre.
He added that estimates within Israel indicate an increase in simultaneous missile launches by Iran and Hezbollah, suggesting a high level of coordination. Statistics indicate that Iran carried out 16 missile launches toward Israel in the past 24 hours, while Hezbollah conducted 20 launches during the same period.
Al-Omari stated that Iranian and Hezbollah strikes are concentrated in the following areas.
Haifa Bay
Haifa Bay is known among Israelis as the “Krayot.” The area contains numerous factories producing high-precision materials and includes both a military port and a civilian port. Several military bases are also located around Haifa.
A few days ago, Hezbollah announced that it had targeted the Mishmar HaCarmel missile defence site south of Haifa.
Hezbollah also fired missiles at the Yodfat military industries company southeast of Acre.
The Galilee Region
Over the past several days, Hezbollah missiles have targeted multiple settlements and military sites across the Galilee.
Hezbollah announced that it targeted the Samson base west of Lake Tiberias using a swarm of drones, stating that the base serves as a command preparation center and a regional logistics unit.
Greater Tel Aviv Area
The Greater Tel Aviv region includes Israel’s main airport, Ben Gurion Airport, along with key sovereign institutions. The area has also been subjected to a series of bombardments, some occurring within the past 24 hours.
In central Israel, one of the most powerful Iranian strikes targeted the settlement of Beit Shemesh, resulting in dozens killed and wounded.
Several days earlier, Hezbollah launched a long-range missile described as a new type. It struck the centre of a satellite station in the Beit Shemesh area, causing injuries and extensive damage, according to Al Jazeera’s bureau chief in Palestine, Waleed Al-Omari.
The Negev Region
Al Jazeera’s bureau chief in Palestine reported that a wide-scale bombardment targeted the Negev region, where the Dimona nuclear reactor is located.
Earlier this month, an Iranian military official threatened to target the nuclear site if the United States and Israel attempted to overthrow the government through armed chaos, according to the website Iran Nuances.
In the same region, media reports stated that Iranian missiles targeted Israel’s Nevatim air base.
A few days ago, video footage published by Israeli media showed an Iranian missile striking directly in the city of Beersheba in the Negev. The Israeli military said it was investigating how air defences failed to intercept it.
The Dead Sea Area
Iranian missiles targeted the Ein Bokek area, a major tourist destination containing more than twenty hotels. The location lies near a large complex of chemical and phosphate factories, according to Waleed Al-Omari.
The city of Eilat on the Red Sea was also subjected to Iranian bombardment. Footage published by Israeli media showed parts of missiles falling within the city.
Cluster Missiles
Israel states that cluster missiles launched by Iran carry approximately 26 submunitions, each weighing between half a kilogram and two kilograms. These missiles are reportedly capable of penetrating the five layers of air defence systems that the United States uses to protect Israel, including THAAD, Patriot, Arrow 2, Arrow 3, and the Iron Dome.
Israel also says these missiles cause significant damage and have previously resulted in fatalities.
According to Al Jazeera’s bureau chief in Palestine, the ability of cluster missiles to penetrate air defence layers is causing concern in Israel. The Israeli military claims that since the beginning of the war, Iran has launched approximately 400 missiles toward Israel, with 90% intercepted either before reaching their targets or within Israeli airspace.
Al-Omari confirmed that roughly 10% of Iranian missiles reached their targets, striking major locations or open areas. Yesterday, for example, three missiles targeted the Tel Aviv region, with two landing in uninhabited areas and the third falling into the sea.
The Iranian and Lebanese missile attacks are reportedly carried out in coordinated waves using a dual tactic that includes distracting Israel’s Iron Dome defence system while launching precision missiles toward deeper areas inside Israel.
