The spokesperson for Iran’s armed forces, Mohammad Akrami Nia, has confirmed that any aggression against Iran would be met with an immediate and decisive response.
Akrami Nia said that “the experience we emerged with from the twelve day war showed that hesitation and granting the enemy time is absolutely unacceptable. The response must be immediate,” adding that “many American bases are within the range of our missiles,” according to his remarks.
He noted that the scope of any war would extend across the entire region, from what he referred to as “the Zionist entity” to countries hosting American military bases. He stressed that “Trump would be mistaken if he believes Tehran will not respond.”
Earlier, Iran’s army commander Amir Hatami ordered the reinforcement of the armed forces with one thousand strategic drones, amid unprecedented tension between Tehran and the United States following threats by Donald Trump of a military option.
After issuing orders to integrate land and naval drones, Hatami stated that “in light of future threats, preserving and strengthening strategic advantages in order to enable rapid combat and an overwhelming response to any invasion or aggressor remains at the top of the army’s priorities,” according to Tasnim News Agency.
For its part, the Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom reported that Israeli military intelligence chief Shlomi Binder discussed a potential strike on Iran during talks in Washington. The paper added that the United States has prepared a list of targets for strikes on Iran in coordination with Israel.
At the same time, Al Jazeera quoted a US official as saying that “the deployment of the aircraft carrier Lincoln and the military build up allows us to protect our forces and reassure our partners”.
The official added that “we are closely monitoring the situation in the Middle East and understand the nature of the region well,” noting that “there is a flow of our forces and weapons, by land, sea and air, into the Middle East due to heightened tension”.
He confirmed that threats in the Middle East are continuously evolving, that the situation remains fluid, and that the United States will take the necessary steps to protect its forces.
