The Israeli occupation army has inaugurated the so-called “Lebanon Facility” in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights — a new training ground designed to simulate combat conditions in a destroyed southern Lebanese village, as part of preparations for another potential war on Lebanon.
In a statement released Sunday, the army declared: “Welcome to the Lebanon Facility, the new training field in the north.” It explained that the facility is a new training infrastructure meant to replicate the challenges soldiers face in manoeuvres along the northern front with Lebanon, whether in mountainous, fortified, or complex terrain.
Replica of a Destroyed Lebanese Village
According to the statement, the new facility was constructed as a model of a southern Lebanese village. It allows units to conduct exercises of varying scales, ranging from small infantry teams to multiple combat brigades operating simultaneously.
The occupation added that, to maximise readiness for manoeuvres in southern Lebanon, the replica village includes buildings of different heights — from single-storey houses to four-storey structures — along with an extensive network of tunnels, intricate passageways, and densely built homes. Every detail, they said, is meant to mimic the real environment.
The facility even contains deliberately destroyed areas, reflecting the devastation Israel itself caused in Lebanon, so that its forces can train on entering bombed-out zones.
First Field Exercise
Last week, the “Lebanon Facility” hosted its first tactical field exercise, involving units from the 7th Armored Brigade, the 401st Brigade, and the Commando School. The manoeuvre simulated joint operations between infantry and armored units, with the objective of capturing the mock village.
Context: The 2023–2024 Lebanon War
In October 2023, the occupation launched aggression on Lebanon, escalating by September 2024 into a full-scale war that killed more than 4,000 people and wounded around 17,000.
The cross-border clashes between Hezbollah and Israeli forces that began in October 2023 grew into open war nearly a year later. Among those martyred was Hezbollah’s Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, while thousands of Lebanese civilians were killed or injured.
Although a ceasefire took effect on 27 November 2024, Israel has since violated it more than 3,000 times. These breaches have caused at least 282 additional deaths and 604 injuries, according to official figures.
