Events in Gaza continue to unfold rapidly, with ceasefire negotiations and prisoner-exchange talks facing major obstacles — largely due to the shifting and obstructive positions of Benjamin Netanyahu. Once again, this appears to be yet another failure added to the many times Netanyahu, alongside extremist ministers Itamar Ben Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, have derailed such efforts in coordination with both the previous and current U.S. administrations. The American role stands increasingly exposed as biased, supportive, and even complicit in the occupation’s ongoing barbaric war against the Palestinian people. This comes amid expansionist colonial rhetoric, as Netanyahu openly invokes the religious-Zionist vision of a “Greater Israel,” sparking strong denunciations across the Arab world and, though far more timidly, in parts of the West.
A Decisive Operation in Khan Younis
Against this backdrop, the Palestinian fighter once again emerged from beneath the rubble after more than 685 days of relentless battles and genocidal massacres, displaying extraordinary bravery, organisation, and tactical precision. The confrontation in Khan Younis was marked by high-level military execution:
- Careful timing and choice of location
- Detailed planning and successful tactical coordination
- Use of varied weapons, including close-range combat
- Around a platoon-sized unit divided into three small assault groups, supported by nearby cover teams
- Attack launched less than 50 meters from a tunnel Israel had previously claimed to destroy
The target was Israel’s Kfir Brigade, which was thrown into confusion. Even the Israeli daily Maariv acknowledged the professionalism of the fighters.
Lessons for the Occupation Army
The bold Khan Younis operation carried several messages:
- This is the model the Israeli army will face should it attempt a full occupation of Gaza. Operations such as “Gideon Chariots 2” will end in failure just as “Gideon 1,” the “Generals’ Plan,” and “Iron Swords” did before it. Mobilising 60,000 reservists will only add more coffins to Israel’s tally.
- The battlefield decides whether ceasefire talks succeed or fail — not Netanyahu and Trump’s manoeuvres to buy time, mislead the Israeli public, and claim progress toward a fantasy of “absolute victory.”
- Negotiations under fire are dictated by the resistance. No amount of destruction, buffer zones, or massacres will compel Hamas to surrender captives or dismantle its rule.
- The resistance is prepared for a long war of attrition. Its military, organisational, and tactical capabilities remain intact, allowing it to maintain the initiative and refusing to raise a white flag.
A Warning to Israel
The Khan Younis battle also sent a clear warning: despite showing flexibility at negotiation tables for the sake of the Palestinian people’s welfare, the resistance has not weakened, nor has it submitted. Defense Minister and Israel’s leadership misjudge badly when they interpret humanitarian pragmatism as capitulation.
The operation further exposed Israel’s continuing intelligence failures and the falsity of its claims to its own public that Hamas’ strongholds had been eliminated. In reality, the resistance demonstrated deep awareness of the Israeli army’s methods, movement, fortifications, and logistics. It also proved that newly established Israeli positions and so-called “buffer zones” will only become costly death traps for occupation soldiers.
Toward a New Phase of the Struggle
Israeli media itself described the Khan Younis operation as “exceptional.” It may prove to be a turning point, potentially shifting the rules of engagement and pressuring Netanyahu to finally accept a prisoner-exchange deal and a ceasefire — rather than remain stuck between posturing and compromise.
Ultimately, what happened in Khan Younis mirrors October 7, 2023, albeit on a smaller scale. It signals the possibility of many more “Al-Aqsa Floods” to come if Netanyahu persists in his obstinacy and criminal war, now waged in open partnership with Donald Trump. At that point, no voice will rise above the voice of the resistance.
