Hebrew media outlets have reported that an Israeli occupation soldier was killed and several others wounded in two separate attacks in the Gaza Strip that settlers’ accounts described as “difficult.”
According to the Hebrew site Hadshot Lo Tzanzura, a soldier from the elite Egoz unit was shot dead by a Palestinian sniper in Gaza. In a separate incident, four other soldiers sustained severe injuries after an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated during an ambush by Palestinian resistance fighters.
Footage shared by Palestinian social media accounts from inside Gaza shows an Israeli helicopter evacuating wounded soldiers from areas east of Gaza City after they came under resistance fire in the Shuja’iyya neighborhood.
Activists noted that Israeli forces deployed dense smoke bombs earlier today — a standard procedure used when troops come under fire and require urgent evacuation.
In recent weeks, operations by the Palestinian resistance have intensified against occupation forces invading several areas of the Gaza Strip. According to Israel’s Channel 12, resistance operations last month alone resulted in the deaths of at least 20 Israeli soldiers, marking one of the deadliest months in recent times.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of Islamic Jihad, revealed details of what they described as a complex ambush and elite operation carried out by its fighters east of Shuja’iyya in Gaza City.
A field commander with the Al-Quds Brigades said in remarks shared on the group’s official Telegram channel, “Our fighters this morning executed a high-level complex operation targeting dozens of enemy soldiers and a convoy of military vehicles in the Al-Huda sector, east of Shuja’iyya.”
He added, “The operation began with the detonation of a minefield under the advancing Zionist vehicles, forcing enemy soldiers and officers to rush into nearby residential buildings in panic.”
He continued, “Our courageous fighters then targeted these forces hiding inside the buildings with a guided missile, followed by a TBG anti-fortification shell.”
The commander explained, “We surprised the enemy forces and engaged them at very close range with light and medium weapons, leaving the crew, officers, and soldiers of the targeted vehicles dead or wounded.”
