The Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas, released new video footage documenting a series of ambushes against Israeli occupation forces attempting to advance in the Al-Tannour neighbourhood, east of Rafah City, in southern Gaza.
Under the title “Ambush No. 3,” the footage shows a targeted attack on an Israeli engineering unit hiding inside a residential home. The fighters launched anti-personnel and anti-armour projectiles, resulting in confirmed casualties among the enemy soldiers—killed and wounded.
The Qassam Brigades noted that a second ambush began by detonating a highly explosive device against a foot patrol, again causing deaths and injuries among the Israeli troops.

Palestinian resistance factions frequently announce successful ambushes and direct combat strikes, yet the Israeli public remains uninformed—due to what multiple international reports describe as strict military censorship imposed on Israeli media. The goal, according to analysts, is to preserve public morale and prevent widespread disillusionment.
Gaza’s Unrelenting Tragedy
The ambushes come amid continued confrontations with Israeli ground forces advancing deeper into southern Gaza, as Tel Aviv—backed by Washington—pursues a campaign of genocide that began on October 7, 2023.
So far, the war has claimed the lives of more than 172,000 Palestinians—the vast majority being children and women—with over 11,000 reported missing under the rubble.
Broken Ceasefire and Political Calculations
In early March, the first phase of a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement—brokered by Egypt and Qatar with American support—officially ended. That truce had begun on January 19, 2025, and was honoured by the Palestinian resistance.
However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu—a fugitive wanted by the International Criminal Court—refused to proceed with the second phase. On March 18, he resumed the genocide, caving to pressure from the most extremist factions in his far-right government to serve his own political survival, according to Hebrew media reports.
