The British news website “Middle East Eye” reported that Jordan has proposed a plan to expel 3,000 members of Hamas and its military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, from the Gaza Strip, in an attempt to end the ongoing Israeli aggression.
The website quoted American and Palestinian sources familiar with the Jordanian proposal, stating that among those to be expelled are military leaders and other members of the movement.
According to “Middle East Eye”, the Jordanian plan calls for the disarmament of Hamas and other resistance factions in Gaza, according to a specified timeline.
The website further explained that this proposal could lead to the end of Hamas’ rule in the war-torn Strip, allowing the Palestinian Authority to take control of Gaza.
The report mentioned that the website tried to contact Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs but did not receive a response by the time the article was published. However, local news websites cited unnamed official and informed sources denying the contents of the report.
This proposal comes as the Israeli occupation escalates its brutal aggression on the Gaza Strip, which it resumed last Tuesday.
Since the resumption of the aggression on March 18, 2025, nearly 700 Palestinians have been martyred in Gaza, the majority being women and children, bringing the total number of victims to more than 50,000.
It is worth noting that Jordan was among the participants in adopting the Gaza reconstruction plan, which was agreed upon in Cairo earlier in March 2025. The plan called for the management of Gaza’s affairs to be entrusted to a committee of independent Palestinian experts, with Egyptian and Jordanian training for Palestinian police officers under the Palestinian Authority. This plan was welcomed by Hamas.
