The legal team of international lawyers in the lawsuit filed against “Israel” before the International Criminal Court (ICC) will head Wednesday to the city of The Hague, Netherlands.
The legal team intends to undertake several legal actions and file three complaints regarding the violations committed by the Israeli occupation military against the health sector and its attacks on health personnel during its aggression on the Gaza Strip.
The first complaint pertains to the Israeli massacre in the Nuseirat, in central Gaza, on June 8, killing 274 martyrs and injuring 698, during an Israeli military operation to retrieve four captives held by the Palestinian Resistance in Gaza.
The second involves the crime of assassinating Dr. Adnan al-Bursh, head of the orthopedics department at the Al-Shifa Hospital, in the Israeli occupation’s prisons.
Al-Bursh was detained by Israeli occupation forces in January 2024 while at the Al-Awda Hospital, assisting a group of doctors.
The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners Society confirmed that al-Bursh had died under torture and due to medical crimes faced by all other Palestinians detained by the Israeli occupation forces in Gaza.
The third complaint concerns the torture crimes committed by Israeli occupation forces while detaining Dr. Mohammad Abu Salmiya, the director of the Al-Shifa Hospital.
Abu Salmiya was detained for more than seven months and subjected to severe torture and humiliating treatment for refusing to record a video accusing the Palestinian Resistance of turning the Al-Shifa Hospital into a military barracks and combat operations room.
The international lawyers team will hold a meeting with the Victims’ Section of the International Criminal Court to discuss representing the victims before the court and ways to compensate them for the Israeli violations.
It is noteworthy that in May, the ICC’s chief prosecutor, Karim Khan, said that he was seeking arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Security Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity, as well as Hamas leaders Yahya Sinwar, Ismail Haniyeh, and Mohammad Deif, prompting fierce responses from “Israel” and its allies.
