The majority of members in the German Parliament voted in favor of banning the “red triangle” used by the al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, in videos targeting Israeli soldiers and vehicles within the Gaza Strip.
According to German media, the law prohibits the display of this symbol in public places and on social media, and penalizes anyone who uses it.
Previously, the German government approved a decision allowing the deportation of refugees merely for commenting on social media posts that criticize the Israeli occupation and support Palestine.
As reported by German media, the Federal Cabinet approved a similar proposal presented by Interior Minister Nancy Faeser. Under this proposal, immigration authorities can deport anyone who supports “terrorist acts,” which according to Berlin, includes all activities supporting Palestine.
Consequently, authorities have the power to revoke residency permits for any activity supporting Palestine, even for simply liking a post on social media.
One of the Most Supportive Countries for Israel
Germany is considered one of the most supportive countries of the Israeli occupation since the beginning of the war on the Gaza Strip. It has doubled its arms exports to Tel Aviv and supported it in the international community. Additionally, it has banned and suppressed all protests in support of Gaza and has fought against all voices in favor of Palestine. Many have been dismissed from their jobs because of their stance or refusal to support the killing of children in Gaza.
Germany also faces the International Court of Justice in a lawsuit filed by Nicaragua, accusing it of “facilitating genocide” against Palestinians during the ongoing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip for the past six months.
Nicaragua, in its lawsuit, claimed that Germany is “violating the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, signed in 1948, in the wake of the Nazi Holocaust.”
Nicaragua further stated that “Germany is facilitating genocide by sending military equipment to Israel and halting funding for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees.”
Since October 7, Israel has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, resulting in tens of thousands of civilian casualties, mostly women and children, and causing a humanitarian catastrophe and massive infrastructure destruction. This has led to Tel Aviv standing before the International Court of Justice on charges of “genocide.”
