Iran’s acting Defence Minister Majid Ebn al-Reza has said Tehran is fully prepared to confront any new threats or another round of war.
Iran’s Tasnim News Agency quoted Ebn al-Reza as warning that “those in Washington who believe Iran will submit to intimidation or change its course because of threats are completely mistaken”.
He added that Iran had revealed only a small part of its defensive capabilities.
The remarks come as Iranian authorities reported continued export activity despite the US naval blockade.
Customs authorities in Bushehr, southern Iran, said the province exported goods worth more than $2.3 billion between March and August, despite the blockade.
Iran’s official IRNA news agency quoted Bushehr Customs chief Ali Soleimani as saying the province exported 5.1 million tonnes of goods during the five months.
Soleimani said petrochemical products and various forms of liquefied gas were among Bushehr’s leading exports.
He added that the province sold goods to 32 countries this year, including China and Pakistan.
