Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps would be able to capture at least 1,000 American soldiers during the first week if the United States launched a military attack against Iran.
In remarks carried by Iranian media, Rezaei said Tehran would respond to any US attack according to what he described as Iran’s capabilities and resources.
He said the Americans were now “in the final minutes” and facing intense pressure, adding that another extension of the negotiations could become a normal development.
“If the negotiations are extended for another two or three days, nothing extraordinary will happen, because all avenues are closed to the Americans and they have no option other than reaching an agreement with Iran,” Rezaei said.
Responding to Washington’s statements that the military option remained on the table if negotiations failed, Rezaei said the United States was incapable of launching a military attack against Iran.
“The Americans are incapable and unable to launch a military attack on Iran, and they are also unable to intensify sanctions against it. They have no option other than an agreement,” he said.
