Hamas has condemned the latest Israeli escalation in the Gaza Strip, accusing the occupation of continuing its attacks on civilians despite the existing ceasefire agreement.
In an official statement, the movement said the intensified Israeli bombardment targeting civilians across Gaza, including air strikes on the Al Daraj and Al Zaytoun neighbourhoods in Gaza City, as well as Al Mawasi west of Khan Younis, resulted in multiple deaths and injuries among Palestinian civilians.
Hamas described the attacks as a continuation of what it called the ongoing war of extermination against the Palestinian people in Gaza and a direct violation of the ceasefire agreement signed in Sharm El Sheikh.
Hamas Accuses Israel of Exploiting Ceasefire Cover
The movement stated that the Israeli government continues carrying out what it described as brutal crimes against Palestinians in Gaza while operating under the political cover of the ceasefire agreement.
According to the statement, Israel has faced no meaningful international response capable of deterring what Hamas called repeated violations of both the agreement itself and international humanitarian law.
Calls Directed at Washington and International Mediators
Hamas called on the administration of Donald Trump, along with the states guaranteeing the Sharm El Sheikh agreement, to intervene immediately and pressure Israel to halt its attacks on civilians in Gaza.
The movement also appealed to the United Nations and its institutions, particularly the United Nations Security Council, demanding urgent action to protect Palestinians and stop what it described as the unchecked expansion of Israeli military violence against civilians in the enclave.
