An adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has stated that he is in “completely good health”, despite not appearing publicly since his appointment on 8 March. The remarks come as speculation continues to grow over his condition and visibility.
Reports of Injury During Airstrikes
According to statements reported by Fars News Agency, cleric Mohsen Qomi said Mojtaba Khamenei was injured during joint United States and Israeli airstrikes. These strikes reportedly killed his father at the outset of the war.
Qomi stated that Mojtaba Khamenei survived the attack after stepping into the courtyard minutes before the strike hit the building.
Absence From Public View Raises Questions
In recent weeks, Mojtaba Khamenei has limited his communication to written statements, with no video or audio appearances. This has triggered widespread speculation regarding his physical condition and his ability to carry out leadership duties.
His continued absence from public view has been a central point of concern, particularly following reports suggesting he sustained injuries during the initial wave of airstrikes.
Adviser Rejects Claims as Disinformation
Qomi dismissed the circulating reports, describing them as “a trick used by the enemy”. He argued that such claims are designed to create doubt over why Mojtaba Khamenei has not issued recorded messages or appeared publicly.
He added that these narratives are part of an attempt to pressure Iran’s leadership into reacting and to destabilise internal confidence.
Continued Control Over State Affairs
Despite the absence, Qomi insisted that Mojtaba Khamenei remains actively managing state affairs. He confirmed that the Supreme Leader continues to oversee political and operational files, including ongoing negotiations, and has issued directives to negotiation teams on how to respond to different scenarios.
He further stated that Mojtaba Khamenei maintains full awareness and direct control over developments within the country, closely monitoring events while choosing not to appear publicly.
