Social media platforms are witnessing an unprecedented wave of outrage against the United Arab Emirates, following growing accusations that Abu Dhabi is backing the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) — a militia implicated in war crimes across Sudan.
In recent days, the hashtag #BoycottUAE has topped social media trends as part of a global campaign demanding accountability for what activists describe as the UAE’s “direct involvement in fueling regional conflicts and financing the ongoing genocide in El Fasher.”
Activists argue that this is no longer a matter of “policy differences,” but rather a revelation of a foreign policy built on chaos disguised as stability — and wars funded under the banner of peace.
“Another Gaza”: Sudan’s Humanitarian Collapse
In Sudan, particularly in the devastated city of El Fasher, users have drawn painful comparisons, describing the unfolding tragedy as “another Gaza.”
This comes amid a severe humanitarian crisis marked by mass killings, displacement, and famine, compounded by the continuous flow of weapons and foreign funding fueling the brutal conflict between the Sudanese army and the RSF militia.
For many observers, the pattern is tragically familiar — a foreign-backed war where the victims are the poor, the displaced, and the voiceless, much like the suffering of Gaza under relentless bombardment.
Intelligence Leaks Expose UAE’s Arms Shipments to Sudan
In a striking revelation, The Wall Street Journal reported—citing officials from U.S. intelligence agencies—that the UAE has been sending increasing shipments of weapons, including advanced Chinese-made drones, to the Rapid Support Forces in recent months.
According to the report, intelligence from both the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) and the State Department’s Bureau of Intelligence and Research confirmed a sharp rise in military supplies flowing from the UAE to the RSF since the spring, causing deep concern within Washington, which had been attempting to de-escalate Sudan’s spiraling conflict.
Some of these intelligence assessments, dated October 2025, even identified the specific weapon types involved, supported by satellite images and field intelligence confirming that Emirati shipments had reached the militia accused of massacres and grave violations against civilians.
The Guardian: British Weapons in the Hands of Sudanese Militias
Adding to the scandal, The Guardian published an investigative report by journalist Mark Townsend, revealing that British-made weapons and military equipment have been found in the possession of forces accused of committing genocide in Sudan.
The paper noted that two confidential UN Security Council files raised serious questions about Britain’s arms exports to the UAE, which is itself accused of transferring those weapons to the Rapid Support Forces.
British arms trade expert Mike Lewis was quoted as saying that UK law prohibits weapons exports when there is a clear risk of diversion or use in international crimes.
According to the investigation, British targeting systems, small arms, and engines used in armoured personnel carriers were discovered on Sudanese battlefields—weapons used by the RSF during attacks on civilian areas, resulting in massacres, mass displacement, and what the United Nations has described as “the world’s largest humanitarian disaster.”
Global Calls for Accountability
The revelations have intensified international outrage and grassroots Muslim condemnation of Abu Dhabi’s deep complicity in the Sudanese tragedy.
For many in the Islamic world, this scandal is part of a larger pattern of destructive interventions by regimes that betray Muslim causes while presenting themselves as mediators of peace.
As the #BoycottUAE campaign grows, so too does a renewed global demand for justice — that those who finance and fuel wars against Muslim nations be held accountable, and that Muslim unity and conscience rise once more against the silent machinery of oppression.
