Sayings of Imam Omar Radiallahu ^Anhu

Imam Omar Bin al-Khattab May Allah Reward him said:

قال سيدنا عمر رضي الله عنه:

“حاسبوا أنفسكم قبل أن تحاسبوا، وزنوا أنفسكم قبل أن توزنوا،

فإنه أهون عليكم في الحساب غدا أن تحاسبوا أنفسكم اليوم،

تزينوا للعرض الأكبر، يومئذ تعرضون لا تخفى منكم خافية” (الحاقة).

“Judge yourselves before you are judged, weigh your deeds before they are weighed for you,

it is easier for you on judgment day tomorrow, to judge and prepare yourselves today.

Beautify yourselves for the grand exposition. That day your deeds will be exposed,

يَوْمَئِذٍ تُعْرَ‌ضُونَ لا تَخْفَىٰ مِنكُمْ خَافِيَةٌ

On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed”.
