Several scholars, such as Ibn Battal, al-Qurtubi, Ibn Kathir, Ibn Hajar, and others, mentioned treating sihr by placing sidr leaves into water over which ruqyah has been recited. This method is cited from the writings of Wahb ibn Munabbih.
Their reliance, however, is upon the Qur’anic recitation used in ruqyah, not upon the sidr leaves alone.
In Musannaf Abd al-Razzaq, it is recorded:
“In the books of Wahb: Seven green sidr leaves are taken, crushed between two stones, then placed into water. Ayat al Kursi is recited over it, along with the Mu‘awwidhat (Surah al Ikhlas, Surah al Falaq, Surah al Nas, and Surah al Kafirun). Then one drinks three sips of it and bathes with the rest. By Allah’s permission, whatever afflicts him will depart, and it is beneficial for a man prevented from approaching his family.” End quote.
Other scholars said:
“One should take seven green sidr leaves, crush them with a stone or similar tool, place them in a vessel, and pour over them enough water for bathing. Over this water, one recites Ayat al Kursi, Qul ya ayyuhal kafirun, Qul huwa Allahu ahad, Qul a‘udhu bi Rabb al Falaq, Qul a‘udhu bi Rabb al Nas, and the verses on sihr in Surah al A‘raf:

Surah Yunus:

Surah Taha

After reciting these verses over the water, one drinks from it three times and bathes with the remainder. The ailment will depart, by Allah’s permission. If there is a need to use it twice or more, there is no harm in doing so until the affliction is gone.” End quote.
