A senior Iranian lawmaker has warned that Iran could make Israel “uninhabitable” in no more than an hour, accompanying the threat with a map identifying some of Israel’s most sensitive infrastructure, including nuclear, energy and water facilities.
The warning came from Ebrahim Azizi, chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, who threatened severe retaliation if Israel took any action against Iran’s national security or strategic interests.
His remarks, published on Saturday on the social media platform X, were a direct response to statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu concerning the overthrow of Iran’s ruling establishment.
Azizi attached an excerpt of Netanyahu’s remarks to his post, making clear that his warning was directed at the Israeli leadership.
One Hour, and a Map of Israel’s Most Vulnerable Infrastructure
Azizi claimed that Iran would need no more than one hour to render Israel “uninhabitable”, suggesting that a future confrontation could extend beyond conventional military targets to infrastructure essential to the country’s functioning.
The Iranian official reinforced his warning by publishing a map identifying several critical facilities across Israel.
Among the locations highlighted were the Dimona nuclear facility, strategic bridges, energy installations and desalination plants.
The inclusion of these sites carried a pointed message. Energy infrastructure and desalination facilities are particularly important to electricity and water supplies, while bridges play a vital role in transport and connectivity.
By identifying these facilities, Azizi signalled the possibility that Iranian retaliation in a renewed confrontation could target infrastructure whose disruption would have consequences far beyond the battlefield.
His remarks did not establish whether Iran had adopted such targets as part of an official military plan, but they represented an explicit warning from the head of one of the Iranian Parliament’s most influential security committees.
A Warning Against the Backdrop of Direct US-Israeli Attacks on Iran
Azizi’s threat follows a period of direct military confrontation involving Iran, Israel and the United States.
On 28 February, the United States and Israel launched an attack on Iran, prompting Tehran to retaliate with strikes against Israel and American positions in countries across the region.
The exchange of attacks continued until a ceasefire was reached in April, temporarily halting the confrontation.
The cessation of hostilities, however, did not bring an end to military tensions.
The United States subsequently carried out further attacks against sites inside Iran, while negotiations between Washington and Tehran encountered renewed difficulties.
Those developments came despite the two countries signing a memorandum of understanding in mid-June, an agreement that had not prevented further deterioration in relations.
Against that background, Azizi’s latest warning reflects the increasingly direct language being used by Iranian officials in response to Israeli threats against Tehran’s political leadership and national security.
His reference to making Israel uninhabitable within an hour, alongside the publication of a map of critical infrastructure, places the potential consequences of another military confrontation at the centre of Iran’s warning.
